Martha's
Vineyard Real Estate Frequently Asked Questions
~ FOR BUYERS ONLY ~
Not
all realtors
are REALTORS®.
What does it mean to be a REALTOR®?
The public has adopted
the name "realtor" as a generic description for
anyone who is engaged in the real estate sales profession.
It's the same way we gave facial tissue a one-word name
-- kleenex. However, not all real estate licensees are REALTORS®.
The term REALTOR® is a registered collective membership
trademark that identifies a real estate professional who
is a sworn member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF
REALTORS® (NAR) and subscribes
to its strict Code
of Ethics.
What is an ABR®?
ABR® is an acronym that stands for Accredited
Buyer's Representative. ABR® is a designation
earned through the completion of an extensive multifaceted
classroom training program on buyer agency practices and
procedures followed by written examinations. However, the
designation is not awarded until the applicant is able to
submit evidence of practical experience as a buyer's representative
--- that means a number of transactions successfully closed
representing the buyer's side. Learn more about Buyer
Agency.
Why
work with a CRS®?
The Residential Real Estate Council Certified Real Estate
Specialist (CRS®) designation is indisputably the highest
level of distinction any REALTOR® can achieve in residential
real estate.
CRS® members have completed advanced training in residential
real estate and have successfully completed the high volume
of sales transactions required to earn the CRS® Designation.
They excel in both experience and education;
they are consummate professionals. There are less than 39,000
active CRS® designees nationwide with an average of
16 years full-time experience in residential real estate.
When interviewing a CRS® to assist you
in the purchase or sale of real estate, you should expect
an agent displaying the CRS® designation will be an
experienced professional. Here is how you can find
a CRS®.
